BMW recalls 200,000 vehicles
Judging by his awesome post and the join date, I'm going with the assumption that he can't read and his post was actually a statistically impossible event in which he pounded the keyboard, somehow making a somewhat coherent thought.
Sounds like a problem with their airbag supplier or a bad batch of parts. This stuff happens all the time for various parts, and all auto makers have been affected by it. It just happens to be somehow more newsworthy because it affects airbags and not something less flashy like fuel pumps.

From what I'm reading 200K isn't that much The biggest recall was somewhere in the millions of cars (spanning across a few manufactures).
In January (2005), Ford recalled nearly 800,000 vehicles from the 2000 model year because of concerns over engine fires.
