BMW recalls 200,000 vehicles
Uhm... I'm not really sure why this is news worthy other than maybe an avenue to let people who own the vehicles know there's an important recall. Every car manufacturer has recalls ("If X is less than the cost of a recall, then we don't recall"... sorry, just read the book). Most are bigger than this one. The fact that there are fewer BMWs on the road means that a higher percentage of BMW owners are affected by this than say.... the A/C systems on the newer Honda CRVs that randomly catastrophically fail.
It's a recall, big deal... BMW will pay for the recall and most likely try to recoop some costs from the air bag manufacturer.

you're way out of the recall, no worries
although I wonder the expected life of an unused airbag is supposed to be?

The German automaker said the recall involves the 2006 3 Series, the 2004-2006 5 Series and the 2004-2006 X3 compact sport utility vehicles in the United States.
