Well, I know this is right in between the middle, but oh well. My dad has a '06 645i, and nothing has ever gone wrong with it since he's got it. The service is a tad-bit on the more expensive then cheap side, but it is a very nice car.

No. no he doesn't. Because we're talking about full-size sedans and you brought up a coupe. 5-6-7... It only makes since to split it!

As a Benz guy, I have to say that, depending on what year and motor you're considering, my recommendation will likely be DO NOT buy one.

The e38 740i/iL is a great car. Do not buy the e38 750 though unless you love expensive maintenance. The one thing I'll note is you'll want one where the guy changed the trans fluid after 60k miles or so.

E38 7s are sweet. Easy coice (for me, anyway).

Me too. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't like the "look". Find me a nice one so I can convince her otherwise.

Sift through those for a look you two like, shouldn't be tough to reproduce.

Wow, this thing's pretty. Not for sale, but at least an idea of what a clean, sorted example can look like.

It's hard to find a good deal on a clean low mile E38. But there're some SWEET deals on 540is. Maybe I'll look for a 540 (I dunno what E that is)

E39 540s with the 6-speed will walk away from an M3 from a roll. Just sayin.....

And I vote E39 M5. It's one of the most complete cars you'll ever drive.
