Bike Information Needed.
correction, my friend has a gsxr 750, but i think its from 97 or 98 and from what i hear the newer 600s have the same power as the older 750. how much are you paying for the bike nighthawk, and what yr/model is it? my friend only spent 3500 total

And when you say the 2nd weekend in June, is that the 14th or somewhere in that area? And do you know the duration of the class itself?

The class is Friday 7-10PM, Saturday and Sunday 8AM-6PM, and when I checked yesterday the next opening was the weekend of June 13-15. I have the flyer for it and can email it to you if ya want.

MRSP runs about 7995.
Casey Cycle City wanted 8100.
How did he get such a cheap price?
no clue, but when he bought it it barely had over 10k miles and ran great, never laid down, etc, even came with a yoshimura racing exhaust and a direct ram air front faring thing (i think thats what its called)

As for a larger displacement bike, obviously there is a lot of power to get you in trouble but I don't plan on going over 35mph for the first couple of weeks, maybe just take it around the neighborhood on the weekends to start. Is the power at all managable or will I be doing a wheelie everytime I touch the gas? My thing is I don't want to invest in a starter bike then have to go through all the touble trying to sell it again just so I can buy the bike I really wanted a few months later. Plus I think learning on a large bike that size will get me used to driving it if that's what I learn on, vs. trying to adapt to a bike that size when I'm used to something much smaller. But then again I don't want to f'k up a brand new bike.

with the huge competition going on right now between manufacturers for the 600 class, you likely won't be disappointed with a 600. personally i may never go beyond a 600... but that's mostly because i don't intend on doing nothing but going fast in a straight line. i also plan to buy a yamaha r6.
the gsxr 600's are nice but the 03 zx6 (636) is badass!! there isnt a 600 that will touch it (stock). i also wouldnt recomend buying anything bigger than a 600 to start with. it would also be a good idea to find a slightly used bike...maybe a '00 or '01 model. but like someone mentioned earlier, with all the compition between the manufacters, it really wont make much difference which one you get (as long as its not a katana). as far as insurance goes, you can get liability only and save a ton of money....just dont wreck!! i pay about $70/month with a shitty driving record.(from progressive). good luck with the bike.
