Re: Anyone ever look into modding a Boxster/Cayman?
Just discussing the options to get a 500 horse Boxster. The cars are incredibly fun to drive. Not sure why people think an Elise/Exige is rad, but the Boxster is gay. I guess most people don't realize they re-deisgned the car completely in 2005 and now for the 2010 it's had a nice facelift and gets 320 horse and the PDK trans.

That's no fun... na 911s are slow as dog poop. I want a 2005+ Boxster S slammed on CCW Classics w/ over 400 horse screaming throgh some capristro pipes or AMW Tuning etc.

you should start browsing 6speedonline.com if you havent already. there are dudes on there selling cars for very cheap, buddy showed me a 996 with like 20k miles on it with a ton of upgraded parts. with some front end damage going for around 19k. With a small amount of resources and time, getting the car back to driveable wouldnt be too terribly expensive.

People probably bag on boxsters because its an entry level porsche....
Its the equivlent of say getting a real low options entry level bimmer compared to say an M3 or M5...big difference between them.

Its fun because its already put together and you don't have to bust your knuckles....plus I can't imagine what happens when you accidentally break something working on a porsche. Probably cost an arm and a leg for some stupid small part.

While on the subject euro spec cars....I looked into getting an M3 at one point then looked at how much it cost to boost one of them. Its was retarded like 8k for a kit that didn't even have everything you needed and even then the power output wasn't spectacular unless you built the motor which was even more ungodly.
Some things are better left alone...

Besides the pussy factor with a 911 im sure is greater than with a boxster or cayman..actually girls are dumb so I am sure you'll get ass just because its a porsche even if ts a base boxster haha
I had some girl ask me if I paid 60k for my z06 and then another girl asked if it was brand new....

The 987 platform is mid-engined whereas the other p-cars are rear engined... which many joke that Porsche has taken a bad design and engineered it to perfection (re: 911s). The mid-engine chassis is superior to the 911, it just needs power. Which is why Porsche will always keep it 50 or so horses shy of the 911.
Your average P-car snob buyer buys a 911 because he "has" to have the "good" one. You'll find the real driving enthusiasts understand the value of the cayman/boxster.
What makes me laugh is when you talk about liking the Boxster most p-car guys say.... oh you should try the Cayman it's way better... not understanding it's the exact same car. It just lacks the stigma attached to the Boxster.

That's just it though... lower end bimmers are the same formula as the higher end though... front engine RWD.
