Another thread on legal advice,Searched
I know this is another " I got a ticket " thread, but i really need some info on what I should do, just yesterday I got a ticket doing 44/25 , it was harpersville road near warwick, where people usually go around 40 on that road, and I was on my way to class. Well I got the ticket and I was very polite to the officer. I need to know at what i am looking at, I had a ticket for a accident I got into but it got waved off my record because I took the drivers improvment class. I only have about 20 days till the court date, and I was wondering should I just go and pay for the ticket or go to court? I still have the driver improvment card, and my speedo is 4 mph off. It was'nt intentially (sp?) , what route should I take in this, and what are my options, Thanks guys and please no flaming :/

Pay the ticket, you lucked out since it isn't a residential area. Your looking at probably $200 and insurance increase as well.

If you have the time go to court, and maybe get it reduced, or no points or something. Couldn't hurt to try. If you don't have the time, pre-pay.

If you have the time, it wouldn't hurt to go to court. It's not like it can get worse by going to court.
That being said, if you've already taken the driver's course, I doubt the judge will do anything to make it anything less than what it already is, a big fat speeding ticket. It's already a mile under reckless, so you're lucky there. I've had to sit through a lot of traffic cases recently, and I'm not sure there's much you can do to get this one tossed. Even though I did see a guy get his ticket tossed because he said he was afraid his ex-girlfriend was chasing him. I wish they allowed filming in court rooms.

Exactly what i was thinking. I would go to court and show them the slip saying your car is off 4mph and that will reduce the ticket enough right there.

It's always worth your time to goto court. In most cases going to court will automatically get it reduced, unless you were/are a complete asshole.
Just tell the cop you goto school, and are worried about the points on your insurance, yatta yatta. Don't argue that you wern't speeding.
