I am only a year older than google and if your wise you will stay with netsec (assuming you mean Network Security) especially if you can get a government clearance the work is EASY and the money is good as this is basically what I do as a Network Analyst and will probably be moving up to Network Engineer I soon which is a raise but the problem is that I will be salary and be putting more than 40 hours a week in... So oh well thats just how it goes, but I still always have 3 days weekends and 4 day weekends every other week.

 

im a data miner which sounds like a coal miner, haha. No net sec is awesome if you get a clearance, but im doing this to get into the financial side of application development and getting a mba hopefully in next year (starting to get). Then the money will be real nice, its nice now but i want to be a ballah not a budget ballah like i am now. But stay in net sec less headaches and youll always be needed as long as there are half ass hackers in the world. I primarily program in Linux environ using SAS and Oracle some other proprietary crap that really blows chunks

 

Well I was lucky enough to have a clearance when I got my current job and probably will have my CCIE in a few years which for now they start people off at 90k a year so If I am a six figure guy by 30 I will be happy, and I probably will be. But I work for a govt contractor monitoring and maintaining a HUGE network, somehting liek 3400 switches + routers plus other goodies, Mainly working with Tivoli NMS for monitoring and Remedy for trouble tickets to give you an idea of the scale of the network. I love my job it's laid back and has plenty of perks and I feel like I do very little in comparison to what I make for now but I will eventually be making more but at 24 I am doing pretty well, shit I do better than my lawer who is 32!
