2008 Cobalt SS
The cars themselves are nice though.
The car weighs 3000lbs, has an engine rated at 260/260 with a Lotus tuned suspension. The engine is slightly underrated, Saturn Sky Redlines have dynoed 228/248. Until the release no one will know if the Cobalt has a little more "tweaking". But either way, an E46 M3 weighs in at a hefty 3500lbs, and puts down 70rwhp more. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.
Its going to be badass, yes, but I'm just not that excited about it b/c 3 GM cars already use its engine (LNF engine, Solstice GXP, Sky Redline, HHR SS), but they just put it in a non-redesigned Cobalt. Only real cosmetic changes are wheels and seats, and there's a slight chance the Brembos might actually make it into production, but I doubt it.
But nontheless, being an SS owner ('07 Cobalt SS 2.4), I support it. But unfourtunantly, its gonna create quite the civil war between the supercharged and turbocharged SS owners on the Cobalt forums.

It's not the turbo that makes the diff. The old 2.4 can be easily boosted with a turbo or a sc - it's the LNF motor itself... 2.0 direct injected, forged internals, enhanced oil cooling.
The problem with it on the Kappa (redline and gxp) is that tiny as turbo. Just a retune and it's at 300hp but that's the max for the compressor. Good platform to build from though.

The 2.4 motor (LE5) my '07 2.4SS has is remaining in a Cobalt, the '08 Cobalt Sport.
And of course, the 2.2 LS/LT (L61) will stay around too.
