it still gets back to ignorance as the only thing you're basing your "all-american" bravado on, and you've still failed to make any point contrary.
to put it in perspective, about 7 years ago i had a 68 chevelle and was as pro-GM/anti-import as any of you. i was also 19 years old. back then i would have agreed with you whole-heartedly. now all i'm looking at is the end product, which i'm sure is what the manufacturers are looking at as well.
.. i don't really care about the qaulity of the car, how fast it is, if it needs a goddamn engine rebuild every 1000 miles, if you're going to make a goddamn Grand National, it needs to be produced by BUICK.
If Nissan decided to bring the 240 back, but it was produced by Hyundai in Sri Lanka, they'd be the fucking laughing stock of the import scene. I don't see how this is any different.
.. and this isn't really a domestic vs. import thing, as if they did theoretically did that to the 240, I'd be showing the same points that I do now, before you AGAIN try to half-ass this into a import vs. domestic thread.

IF nissan was to bring the 240 back... with a (hypothetical) 250hp+ turbo motor, six-speed, and looked halfway decent, i would DEFINITELY consider buying one even if it was made in sri lanka or abu dabhi or whatever middle eastern or third world country you want to throw out there, ESPECIALLY if it was going to drive the price down. NOW, if it came back to affecting the overall quality of the car then it would raise a concern but that hasn't been brought up in this thread, and to my personal experience there really isn't much farther to go considering the reliability of the original gnx (a particular consumer report on the 700r4 transmission comes to mind), and pontiac isn't real bigtime on top-of-the-line quality either so that's not much of an argument (if you were considering it).
but we're still basically throwing opinions at each other- the fact of the matter is that i see gto's fucking EVERYWHERE, and it seems like the people who are buying them are happy with them, so your biased opinion means NOTHING but typical braggart american bitching. again, not necessarily a topic that needs to be discussed on these boards, as it has very little to do with cars.

EDIT: and trust me, I see your point of view. My grandmother wants a nice, reliable car also, no matter who the manufacturer is, and no matter what the history and lineage of the car may be. Then again, my grandmother isn't on dragva claiming to be a auto-enthusiast.

I am just tired of hearing these domestic idiots say, "that's not a GTO".
Pot, kettle, ******
Now if you had an original Ferrari GTO, you could tell me that. Haha.
.. no one's talking about GTO's. We all know they originated as Ferrari's. It's ok. Now, back on topic, you can say 'Sure.' all you want, but if that ever did happen, you'd never buy one. Don't lie you fucking guy.
