What about the GT350 and GT500 mustangs? They handled like a dream (for an 60's car). Do they not count?

corvette, not muscle car...ever
mustang, not muscle car...ever
challenger, not muscle car...ever
camaro, not muscle car...ever
there were years in there where they were similar. corvette is a sports car, mustang, challenger, camaro...all pony cars. They weren't built from a family car, these cars were built from the start to be something different. mustang didn't try to sell to a family man, they went after the young crowd. See any old mustang advertisement for proof. The challenger and camaro were to compete with these cars.
ugh, i just got to the end of this and read that website...to me i consider a "muscle car" and "pony car" different but who am i to argue with a website?
at least they said i have a pony car and muscle car

so now the focus has gone from "is it a holden, a pontiac, or a buick?" to "is it a muscle car?"
well on this one, i would have to agree with spic and followers. i would never have said that this 07 gnx that's supposedly coming out was a muscle car. i fully never expect to see a muscle car produced ever again. and imo that's fine- that leaves the old ones more to be appreciated when and if i ever do decide to build one. but that doesn't change the point that it doesn't HAVE to be a proverbial "muscle car" to "live up" to its "heritage". granted, they could have gotten away with naming it something other than a gnx, but why not? as blaxican and greygti have already stated MANY times, it IS faster and all-around better than the original, so there is no disgrace involved. besides, retro is cool these days.
basically, you people who are arguing whether or not the car deserves to be labeled a gnx or a gto are neglecting a huge point- i'm sure GM never intended to come out with a car that was identical in every aspect to the originals. these cars were most likely meant to be reminiscent of them, a "new-age rendition", if you will- which would, of course feature all the amenities that modern day performance cars have, such as handling prowess and awd. you also have to look at its major source of competition-as someone has already noticed the 07 skyline gtr is slated to have very similar characteristics AND a very noticeable name so i'm sure that car had something to do with this announcement.
there's just alot more going on behind the scenes that you people are just too blind or stupid to think about, or just choose to overlook in your pain and anguish over the cars not being exact replicas of the originals.

I'd still be pissed, 'cause no matter who's idea it was, it wasn't Buick's idea, and it's still a Pontiac.
so.... don't buy one.
oh wait wait here's more advice- don't get into marketing.
you are one stubborn son of a bitch.
No, me being pissed has spawned because of the amount of people that replied "OMG I WANTZ 1 OF THOSE!!" to a Pontiac with Grand National on the side of it.
No fuckin' respect. None. That's a slap in Buick's face. Blap.
.. and you're just as stubborn, you buttfuckin' son of a bitch.

you're still acting like buick is a personal friend of yours that you named your children after because he saved your life in 'nam or some shit. people on this board are going to want that car whether it's named a gnx or murcielago or leganza or whatever.
