Those who take the downtown tunnel, this is your warning
I drive from portsmouth to downtown every day and have seen this plenty of times. Trooper's just standing there where the portsmouth lane merges over, right?
Just stay in the left lane, they generally dont even look over there. Then again, im sure its happened, Ive just never seen it.

Re: Those who take the downtown tunnel, this is your warning
I been drive home though the downtown tunnel for 10 years now and state troopers are checking cars on the portsmouth side for years. Most of the time 2 troopers stand on each side of the cars and check everything......... Just like they do on altantic ave at the oceanfront.

They weren't there when I went through at 4pm yesterday thankfully.
When I was coming from ODU, the signs said that the 'DOWNTOWN TUNNEL BLOCKED" and "EXPECT DELAYS." So, good luck to everyone and this isn't the first time they have done this. I see Norfolk cops do the same thing standing outside of the MacArthur parking garage about once a month.
Hmmm I think it time to rethink where im gonna take orders to here in a couple months. Florida sounds nice with the exception of hurricane season.

He has been there for two years. Random days, but they mostly look for expired tags and front license plates. Buckle up also...you never know...it may be your lucky day.
You know Nick not too long after you posted this I saw two cop cars in the median on Hampton Blvd near the Midtown tunnell around 3:30. A cop was walking around (in stopped traffic) looking at inspection stickers. I didn't know it had gotten that serious.
A while back there was a thing on the news where fake inspection stickers are getting really big. The state troopers on there were going to be cracking down hard on them.
Funny thing is, I've seen sherriffs out there doing it twice. Not sure if they wrote tickets though, I didn't even think sherriffs could do that.
Now that I think about it, this might be an attempt to crack down on illegal inspection stickers. Of course tickets for other shit is an added bonus, shit he could probably meet his quota in a day. Shooting fish in a barrel.
