Those who take the downtown tunnel, this is your warning
^
Well, I mean if it was just for an inspection sticker. Go ahead, the person deserves it. But just if you see a car with an exhuast or whatever, I think it's redicoulous. I'm sure the person who he is pulling, is already pissed at traffic and on top of that he got a TRAFFIC ticket. haha

When I was coming from ODU, the signs said that the 'DOWNTOWN TUNNEL BLOCKED" and "EXPECT DELAYS." So, good luck to everyone and this isn't the first time they have done this. I see Norfolk cops do the same thing standing outside of the MacArthur parking garage about once a month.
I don't know how they can legally do this without actually making them blow and then actually catching them driving. What if I was there with a friend and he was the DD and I got the ticket? Sure, I can understand a drunk in public ticket (but I'm not actually in public yet), but not a DUI if I don't drive.
It was weird, let me find the link. I read it a while ago and my aunt who lives in Fort Worth told me about it. Yea, it's not drunk driving, but public drunkeness in a bar. It's not like they are giving tickets, they are actually arresting people in bars.

THat's a FAR cry from the thousands you'll spend on a lawyer, the year in jail you could get, the $500+ fine, loss of license for a year+, ASAP classes, etc. etc. etc. for a DUI.
Those are public intox. tickets that are $94 after court costs and everything in the state of virginia.

Yea, but at least wait till they get outside before you ticket them or arrest them. I know I wouldn't want tog et arrested for drinking in a bar. Anyways, thanks for the heads up about the tunnel.
If you have anything illegal on your car I would advise taking another way home. This mainly applies to those going from downtown portsmouth to norfolk. I went home on my lunch break and where you would merged right before the tunnel there was a state trooper standing there in traffic pulling people out of line. Those who take the tunnel know what I'm talking about, traffic is creeping about 1 mph and he was scoping out every car that went by. Pulling people off to the side for (what I saw) inspection stickers and exhaust. I only saw two get pulled during the time I was there, but god knows how many he got.
I thought it was a pretty shitty way of ticketing people since it screwed with the traffic and made it even worse. So this is you're warning.

Isnt no way, shape or form in HELL that I'm not getting pulled in the Mustang when I go through..
