For you nut swiggin V1 kids that means this detector can NOT be detected by a radar detector detector (got that).

Most state troopers have radar detector detectors in their cars so just having any other detector plugged in can get you nailed.

Geez? Really? Because the V1 is undetectable by the VG-2 detector detector

last time i checked it was $30 for the detector and $51 for the processing fee a total of =$81 with no points

So what, VA cops barely have any Spectre IIIs so it isn't worth their budget to buy them. $81 made in revenue when they could have waited like 5 more minutes to get some douche going 15+ or the speed limit; boy wasting all that money on an STi sure is worth it

Exactly, a large percentage of VA cops have a VG 2 and only a few have Spectre III. Your biggest concern isn't getting caught with it, you need to watch out for instant-on, which there's a hell of a lot of since the new laws came into effect, and laser. If you just mount it the detector as high as you can you won't have any problems.

Oh yeah and V1 ftmfw.

Actually according to a state trooper at a DUI check point.. As long as the detector is in the cabin of your car, you can get a ticket for it.. If the detector is anywhere near a power source = ticket..

He asked if I had one cause I left my mounting bracket on the windshield.. Told him I travel out of state often and use one outside of va.. Then he explained it all to me.. Glad he didn't search my car other wise he would have found it sitting under the passenger seat.. haha..

Unfortunately, the VSP have recently acquired about 50 spectres. Also, to make it worse these are the new Spectre IV's. I'm not sure how much better they are but they still cannot detect the STi. The older V1.8(3.812-3.826) V1's are only detectable within 400ft or so. The newer V1's don't fare as well, and can be picked up around 1000ft out.

VG2 is nothing to worry about, as most of the high end detectors are invisible to it. IMO, I would just wait and see how much an issue this becomes before everyone rushes out and buy's STi's.

I certaintly have no plans of dumping my V1 anytime soon.

I do wish Valentine would get off his ass and upgrade a lot of the features.

Sure they update the software and it's still a great detector but I'd like things like an auto-mute, being able to black it out and a few other simple features.

Not to mention that a lot of other companies have built models that surpass the V1 in a number of ways

For someone that does NOT own a detector of any kind i would suggest the STi since the technology is better. I never said that everyone with a V1 should throw it on ebay and by an STi. From all the test I have seen and read the STi out preforms the V1 even if it is the slightest bit.

Bel STi Driver = $449
Valentine V1 (with all the accessories that you get with an STI) = $439

How much would you pay for the added security? Oh and just because VSP only have a few spectre III, I am sure there are other states with them. But I forget most of you never leave this beautiful state.
