Default Poker for cash in the 757.

Most of you that play cards probably already know, but some of you may not.

The lovely city of Portsmouth has found a way to play poker for money out of an actual establishment.

There are two places to play.

'The Poker Room' located in Victory Bingo off Victory Blvd in Ptown

Weds and Thurs at 7PM $1-$2NL live games with a $50min/$300max buy in. Aslo run $25 single sit and go tables that pay $150 for first.

Friday at 7:30PM $25 tournament with rebuys and addons. Usually around 50+ players. $2500 chips with 20min levels. 8PM we start $1-$2NL live games with a $50min/$300max buy in.

How is this possible? Charity of course. A portion of the tournament will be donated to charity as well as donations from the cash tables. It is the same percentage that is taken from any casino AND its actually going to charity. So instead of driving to AC to play for money you can head on down to Ptown.

The second place to play is the Poker Palace at Blvd Bingo on Airline Blvd right next to AIK on Saturday. (same parking lot as the weekend races in ptown back in the good ol days.) They play two tournaments at 1PM and the second at 7PM every Saturday.

Playing at either of the two places is much better than a home game for two reasons. One, it is guarded so your not going to be robbed, it happens for those of you who dont know, and Second, you have floor people and directors that know the correct ruling if there is a dispute.

Anyhow, just thought Id share for those of you who dont know. If your at the event Friday night feel free to say hi. Ill be the tallest guy in a hat yelling across the room.

Sweet. Thanks for the heads up.

One question. Is this the 'cops' game? A friend keeps trying to get me to go to theirs in ptown, didnt know if this was the same one.

The Poker Palace out of Blvd Bingo is the 'cops' game. Its the fraturnal order of police.

The game I run at Victory Bingo donates to a kids charity. Dont remember the actual name because this is only the second week but I know its better than donating to some ptown police.

Nah, I run the Pocket Aces tournaments out of a lot of bars in Va Beach. (mypocketaces.com)

I dont play much free poker, just cause I run the tourneys and itll really fuck up your game if you play for cash elsewhere.

Im playing in the $560 WSOP circuit event next month. Last year it paid $60,000 I believe. Boy would that be a nice bank roll.

Thats not a bad return at all.

I havnt gotten into it that much. 50 bucks aint a bad buy in, its how much I usually spend at the house games I play. Anything more than that at one time and I would feel like a gambler.

Ya I feel ya, most of the home game tournament buy ins I play are just $25 bucks. Unless its a cash game, then it all depends on the blinds. In a cash game I usually want atleast 40 times the big blind.

Right on the money.

I just usually have to rebuy or play a second time.
