Default Need a shop for free written estimate on A/C Compressor/Pulleys (Insurance needs it)

Was running A/C and had to go through some high water, insurance company needs an official business to write up a diagnostic of what is wrong with my car. With belt on, a pulley is loud (bearings or something) and the a/c does not work, may just need charge or something more... Also there is a ticking under the hood possibly the alternator or another pulley/belt issue, any suggested shops for this free estimate and who can do the work as well? Saturday would be best or after 5pm on Thurs or Friday

Belt is currently off, if you are going to charge to put it back on and diagnose the car, i can put it on if need be..

Let me know (business owners or just people with good shop experiences)

thanks

No technician worth a damn will diagnose for free. Their time is money and if you aren't paying them, they will half ass it to move on to something that will pay. Your best bet is to call a shop for pricing estimates or pay someone to diagnose(shouldn't your insurance company be doing this??)

It's a free estimate, businesses do this and hope the customer uses them for the repair work, which I will do so...

Plenty in yellow pages, I just wanted to give the opportunity to VADriven business owning members and also get an idea of a good shop to take vehicle too...Insurance company has given me money but minus deductible, it's nothing, and they are waiting on a company to tell them what the problem is in order to give me another check..

I saw your point. Yes many shops do this if they already know what is wrong. It is one thing to give a customer an estimate for an idler pulley and a drive belt replacement. However, this isn't necessarily a free estimate as you don't know exactly what is wrong.

That is a lot of vague information.
Which pulley is making the noise?
Why is the a/c leaking?
Where is it leaking at?
How do you know what to replace without looking at it?
How do you know what the parts and labor costs will be without looking at it?
How do you know if you can source a part without knowing what one?
What is causing the ticking?

Without knowing what is all wrong, you can't write an estimate based on that without someone looking at it. There could also be resultant damage or hidden damage. If a shop wants to look at all that for free, let them. I am saying that a competent Technician worth his pay, will not diagnose all that and give an estimate for free unless he doesn't need money.
