I currently use a cheap RD. So far it has more than paid for itself in the last few months I have owned it. I will be upgrading to at least the STi. That RD is supposed to be one of the best out there. For $500, it better be! lol

Sucks to hear about the ticket. Change the speedo gear, get it calibrated, and go to court. Get a lawyer as well. I think the best thing to do is tell the judge you screwed up. State that it is your first reckless and ask for a reduction to improper.

radar detectors don't work when a trooper is pacing you, trust me, I know first hand.

 

they dont give you tickets if they cant catch you either, i know.

2- reckless drivings - both reduced to improper speeding. Don't get a lawyer if you've never had a ticket. Go to driving school and get a copy of your driving record. Be courteous to the judge and officer and explain it was an isolated incident and that it won't happen again. If you have a crappy record, get a lawyer, but he'll tell ya to do what i said to begin with and you take your chances.

 

i got lucky on my reckless. i got a $200 fine with cort costs. i didn't have a lawyer and my driving record is nowhere close to perfect. i'm also only 19 (18 at the time of the ticket). it all depends on the judge.

 

I guess the fines will take priority over getting rid of those Cobra R's.

 

lol a good lawyer can get it atleast reduced probably because he was PACING you, and not using radar, and if you get your speedo calibrated. but yeah anything over 80 is automatic reckless. and on the subject of laser detectors my friend just got a ticket for his cause the cop saw it lol, so if ya get one make sure you can hide it lol.
