I know what your saying, of course if you take a bigger and supercharge it it will make more power still but at 600, 700, even 1000hp I would take the 280 - 350ci motor and put a turbo or blower on it. Sure you can make the same power with the bigger engine but it produces more heat and wear, often needs more precise tuning because of the higher compression, and things like big cams hurt smooth streetability.

Forced induction is increasing displacment just a little differently. Adding cubes makes power and so does adding boost and I know you already know this. In events like NMRA Outlaw and drag radial classes turbo cars often dominate. Turbos are simply a better, safer, and often easier way to make big power. Like I said before, you can make the same power whether you go with a big ci engine or a small ci boosted engine. But turbo cars do it more efficiently.
