2000 dollar car 19,000 in intrest... much better than an R32

 

Jay you are being rather cocky. The R32 should have never come here. It was designed to run in Europe on small winding roads in mountains. The only reason VW brought the R32 here is because you have people that will pay 30K for the car. The normal consumer will buy this car for the sheer fact that its got pep out of the box, its AWD so it handles better and it has comfort and luxury. I am sorry people but if you havent seen a VW lately go look at one and Ill tell you right now that the luxury in VW rivals Bimmer and Mercedes. Its not economical to buy one of those yet people own them and will continue to buy them.

I love my dub but let me tell you something I would never give it up unless I could get a car that I really wanted, like an Alfa Romeo or an Opel. I dont like it when people put them down but when you are right, you are right. It is an overpriced box on wheels that yes the aftermarket for them is rather expensive and not really cost effective. If you think about it though, any car is expensive to mod. Everyone has their own budget, hell if I had the money I would mod Audis and Porsches, but I don't. I also dont want to be like everyone else and drive a Japanese car or a domestic. Dont get me wrong I have respect for domestic and Nipponese cars. I am from Europe and I like the styling that European cars. Also....how many vettes can haul a shitload of stuff and still do 0-60 in less than 7 seconds? I like my Golf because its practical. I hauled 9 boxes to FEDEX today. Good luck trying to fit 9 boxes in the back of your vette or viper...hell even a civic for that matter. My car is small enough that I can go anywhere in town with it, yet big enough on the inside that I can still utilize the space to carry shit.

For an out of the box everyday driver I think the R32 is great, if you have the money to throw like that on a daily driver. Would I get one? Fuck no...they North American models are fucking ugly compared to the Euro models. No HID projectors and the damn caliper paint is always blue...even on red R32s....its ugly. We all have our reasons for driving what we drive. We all lead different lives which require our vehicles to do different things. I say for being different... I say for spending way to much on a r32(no point in for this car in the US) when the 1.8t is way better platform for modding.

Me....i want a rado with that damn 3.2l vr6...now that would be fucking fast.

I can see spending the $$ on an R32 . VWs are built much better than any other car ( IMO ) . It IS and AWD platform and VR6s are very torquey . With that given , off the line launching will probably be unreal ( if someone who knows how to drive is behind the wheel ) . The top speed will kill it because of the drivetrain loss of all the rotating mass and the weight of it . It isn't the end all super car , nor is it the fastest car you can buy for 30K . It IS a nice car , though .

As for driving a Z06 .... yes I have driven one and I have driven cars that handle WAY better and for FAR less money . I thought it was a hog and was too unpredictable for my taste ( of course , it was on the street and not on a track ) . There is also the fact that my father-in-law owns one and he is pretty much a dick so I hold it against the car ( lol ... good reason , eh ! )Never driven a Viper , but if anyone wants to donate .... anyone ??? anyone ??? .... Beuller ???

And Jay .... you are so going to ruin that car . I told you not to dog the shit out of it til it was broken in ! Just put a bullet in your head now so you won't be dissapointed when you start leaking something or it get's a nasty ping .

 

Well said... you make some good points... I can cram lots of shit into the vette because it's so wide (people are surprised), but that's not what it's made for and it won't compare to a hatch. Also, there's no way in hell you'd find me parallel parking it down at Granby St. or something for people to key or hit (That's what the beater truck is for). So if you need a "practical" daily driver that's still fast they VW's can be fine. That's the problem with compromising you can be good at lots of things but not great at them all. Well you could go buy a Turbo Cayanne use it for off roading then unlock the differentials re-attach the sway bars (all done electronically) put it in low mode and go run lap times faster than a Boxter S around Nurenburg!

 

"unpredictable" many peeople aren't used to driving cars with huge tires, they track to every groove or uneven spot in the pavement. To me the Z is the opposite of unpredictable, but to each his own. I find that it take a day or two of seat time in a car to get really comfortable with how it drives. What stock car handles "way" better for less money? Also, what measurement are you using to make this claim.

Owner of the R32 you should probably break in that thing... I mean you did spend $29000 bucks on it!

 

Guess I can't say 'stock' and I'm measuring by personal seat time . I was thouroughly impressed by the Z06 , but it didn't make me cream myself ( although that sinking feeling in the seat was awesome as was the fighting to hold the wheel ! ) . If I can just talk my friend into a few more minutes of fun , mayby I'd have a different opinion ! ( but he was scared enough to let me drive in the 1st place ! )

Oh yeah .... the TT Quattro handles pretty damn good . You should try one one day . I wanna get my hands on a M3 Roadster , too ... so if anyone wants to hook a brotha up ......

 

no offence, but the z's handling limits are probibly higher than your driving limits. if you dont know how to drive a car, it wont handle well for you.
