Actually, the non-SS monte carlos have the 3400 series V6. 3400 = suck. Trade it for a new Supercharged SS if you like the Chevy's.

Yeah, the Monte's and the Grand Prixs are "sister cars". You could pull a 3800 Series II Supercharged and drop it right in your Monte....if you felt like figureing out exactly what you needed to do it correctly, you could just get the extra parts and put them in your car but you would need to put some good research into that.

Also, you might be surprised what you can get out of the engine that's in there now. The Grand Prix GTP's have gotten some decent support in the last few years and a good bit of those performance parts, including internal engine parts, will work in your car.

Grand Prix GT's, which have the same engine as your car, can easily see mid to high 14's with only very minor bolt ons so get internal on your engine and you could see some good times.

You know, you just might be right. All the guy needs to do is pop the hood and he'll know real quick though. It'll either say 3400 or 3800 right on top.

I know I'm right :-). I used to be a chevy head until I bought my mazda. The regular Monte Carlo's have the 3400 V6, the SS has the 3800. Actually, all 3 cars (Impala, Monte Carlo, and Grand Prix) are sister cars, the Monte Carlo simply being the Impala coupe. The new Supercharged SS Impala's and Monte Carlos have the GTP engine, however, and yes, you can hit 14's with a smaller blower pulley, underdrive pulleys, exhaust/intake. People do it alllll the time.

Dude, GTP's can hit 14's stock....high 14's to be exact. Maybe you mean 14 instead of 14's.

For real? I thought they hit low 15's. Hm..... Either way, forced induction from the factory = better upgrade paths that do more for the dollar.

So anyway, I've never really seen a whole lot of aftermarket stuff for the 3400. Now the 3800 motor has a killer aftermarket, so if you were planning to upgrade, you might want to consider trading it on an SS and then work.
