i got a question about my turbo
i jus got a fully rebuilt garret t3 turbo from a friend for free and he also gave me a vorteck fmu and i was wondeting where i could find a manifold with the flange i need he said sonething about it needs a special one that is from a grand national and im kinda new to turbo kits and parts and i wans wondering if anyone can give me some info.....thanks o and i will also need parts lol i have a 91 civic hatch dx if that helps any info would be great
Why don't you ask your friend that gave you the turbo? Do a search for a t3 manifold for a honda on google or ebay. If you don't know what parts you will need, its not a good idea to put on that turbo. Do a search on a turbo kit, see what parts you have, and see what you are missing.
Well I think he is a ways away from the actual install. The intercooler is only REQUIRED if you are running more than 8psi of boost, if you are tight on cash then that may be something you add later. Most manifolds that you find for D series motors are for t3 or t3/t4 so you are good in that area.
This is everything you will need to put a turbo on your car if you are running under 8psi... You will need a manifold, turbo, charge pipes w/ couplers & clamps, downpipe, larger exhaust pipe (high flow cat helps too), FMU, wastegate, blow off valve, oil line kit for a d16, missing link, about 6 ft' of vaccum lines, about 2 ft' of fuel hose, 4 qts fully synthetic motor oil, and an air filter for the inlet of your turbo.
I would not reccomend running more than 8psi on stock honda sleeves. But if you plan on going between 8psi - 14psi (I would not go higher than 14 on stock rods) you will need to have a block guard pressed in, you will need the intercooler, a fuel pump, injectors, and some sort of reliable engine management (Greddy Emanage, Hondata, Uberdata, Crome). Not to mention a good tune.
Hope that helps! You should check out ebay...

One more thing, it would be a good idea to get a fuel pump and injectors if you are running more than 6psi just because you are putting a lot of stress on the stock ones. They can handle it, and I have been running on stock pump/injectors for months but having a pump/injectors is like having good insurance. You sleep better at night.
