Did you read it? It happens primarily in Glocks and yes mainly from reloads but it does happen with factory ammo as well. The HK malfunctions were shown to be solely the result of faulty reloads as opposed to the Glock design of the chamber.

Actually, it doesn't happen primarily in Glocks. I've been witness to many types of catastrophic failures with many types of guns. It's been my experience that it happens in 1911 handguns. Why? Because they have unsupported chambers.

Shitty ammunition causes the issue in Glocks and .45ACP 1911 because of the use of unsupported chambers.

Now, since a VAST majority of super .38 shooters reload, you'll see that it happens more frequently with them.

Again, the issue you're bringing up is not particular to Glocks, nor is it even prevalent in Glocks.

It's like trying to say that a particular make of car is shitty because it doesn't run well when you put water in the gas tank.

 

I have over 2000 rounds through my G22 (.40) not a single ejection failure or problem using remington and winchester target rounds.

 

That's not a whole lot of shooting. I've had my Kimber for a few months and it's already seen around 2500 rounds.

Most of the time it's shitty ammo.

I own a 2nd gen Glock 19 in 9mm and a H&K USP compact in 40 S&W. USP's have hexigon barrels and you can't shoot unjacked ammo through them. Both Glock & H&K state not to shoot reloads or unjacked ammo through them. I've owned both guns 7 - 8 years and shot a few thousand rounds though the USP and never had so much as a failure to feed. At the range i shoot the FMJ winchester ammo most of the time with a mag or two of Federal Hydroshok when my defensive ammo has been sitting for a few years.

The only problem i've ever had with my Glock is a failure to feed due to user error. I find that i don't fully seat the magazine in the Glock all the time. I like it's light weight and longer trigger pull compared to the USP but the USP is just a better all around gun.

 

While we are on the subject, does anyone have any personal experience with the Springfield XD40? I've been thinking about picking one up.

 

I have the XD45 and I love it. Natchez has owned the XD40, and Black Nugget has owned the XD9 and both of them have nothing but praise for it.

IMO, I'd go with the XD45. You lose 1 round capacity and the gun is the exact same size to the naked eye (maybe 1mm difference in width/thickness). I actually want to try the XD45 SC now that they have one to see how my grip is on that because that would make a great carry gun at 10+1 on a SC frame. I currently carry my 4" XD45 every day (13+1) and its great, but I want something smaller thats a little easier to conceal.
