I just bought a 86' toyota pickup from a guy in knotts island and he didn't have the title. He bought it brand new in 85', moved to knotts island from va in 87' and somewhere around then lost the title. When he went to go sell this 450,000+ mile truck he couldn't get the title because dmv had purged their records, but they said they could do it with proof of insurance. His insurance company who he had had it insured under for like 22 years or so had also purged their records. He went through other routes of trying to receive this title with no luck. I carfaxed it and the only two records were from NICB in 85' and when he registered it in knotts island in 87'. I bought it for parts for my other 86' pickup, but decided to get it running and sell it, but I need to get a title. It's technically still in his name, but I have a bill of sale signed by both parties saying it's mine now. What would I have to do to get some sort of title for this truck?? I'm sure someone has had this happen before. Thanks.

i used them many of times in the past...download the forms send a money order and get a title....
