Thats not true. Camber will eat tires too.
Incorrect toe settings will cause a feathering effect on your tires that will eat your tires. But a bad camber setting or too much camber will ALSO cause excessive where. Along with running under inflated tires or over inflated tires. Hell even a incorrect caster setting will effect your tires granted not to the extent camber and toe will.
For langley I could see a agressive camber setup being good, but it would adversely affect your brakeing responce. If I were setting up a RWD car I would set a bit more rear camber than front, depending on the car closer to (-2.5) at the rear and (-1.8)- (-2.0) on the front. This would still give me some turn in responce and without hitting my braking too much. I would have to see about toe.... I would think more of a right setup to counter the minor banking.... but seeing as the banking is so minor you could almost get away with a 0.0 toe setup, this would help with initial turn in. The biggest thing I would worry about at langley would be tires. Cant really run a full race tire becuase the dust and marble build up on the track. Somethin like BF-Goodrich G-Force KD or along those lines would work great, even though BFGs are a bit hard of a tire compound. Nitto makes a pretty good tire for road and track thats not so soft it will vanish in 15k miles but just soft enough to autocross in it well. Falken and Michillen also make decent tires for that too, but both to me are way overpriced for what your getting. Also setting them at the correct tire pressure would help a bit. I would look at starting at 26psi (hot temp) and adjust up or down as needed. My absolute lowest tire pressure would be 22PSI(Hot).
But to all the people who have put up horrible times....... theres only so much your car can do, some of you have some MONSTER cars, great power look good and are just fast, but you are taking the wrong line around the track.
I know some of you are saying who is this punk who thinks he knows it all. Well I am just a guy whos tooled around with some 1/4 mile drag racing in the NHRAs bracket racing while I lived in Houston, and also did some autocrossing here and there before I got a car that was to heavy for the power I make.... or lack therefore. I have a few ASEs and have been to a few driving schools. But now I think I am just out of shape and too old to drive an oval track as small as langley.
Alright....I am expecting some flaming here for this one but here goes. (I am making this observation as a laid back person that does not care that his car does not win at Langley, it is all about the show, right?)
I still think everyone at Langley is okay in their own way, but I can't see being "opinionated" about the whole trailer issue. (I might think a little differently about this if I had more than $200 tied up in my Metro though)
Thats it......that does it.........I am going to start putting my Metro on a trailer too. I mean, if it is the trailer that is making the car fast enough to take the win at Langley, them I'm there!
Can I rub my Metro against your Trailer?
Damn, 130 posts and about half of them talk about the damn trailer. You guys could spend this time out in the garage trying to make your car faster. But instead, you would rather bust this guys nuts about his trailer.
Dyno, I am glad you got your phone back too. (Here we go, 100+ posts about your phone
).
Lets not forget to tell Shumate and Nemo to leave their trailers at home too.

Go back and look. The trailer thing was brought up just to talk about the way it used to be. Then everyone got defensive and said we were "bitching."
If you guys stopped playing the poor little downtrodden shop and relax for a second you'd see that nobody is out to get you after all.
And screw watching practice. My boys are so consistent I can tell you where they'll place the day before the race.
