Default DSM tranny problems

Ok, so my friend is getting this 92 Eclipse (I believe it's RS, but she inst sure). I know that DSMs have tranny problems, but what specifically?

Also, someone up here was talking about a shop that was great to have a tranny rebuilt for real cheap(well, decent), I tried to search for it, but I couldn't find it. It's here in the 757, and I pretty sure it's somewere on the Peninsula(sp?)

If anyone can help me find the info, it would be great

is it 5speed or auto? I had auto in my 97 n/a and it did fine with 110ks on it. on my 98 gst ive already gone thru a tranny. The shift fork is weak, 3-4 in particular.

1.8? 2.0? either way i'd look for a junk yard tranny. most places charge over 1000 for a rebuild and the car just isn't worth it. my .02

I have almost 180,000 on my stock 95 gs-t tranny. The auto's hold up pretty well. The worst I've seen is the end cluthes going out.

Went through two on a GSX. First one detonated spitting gears out a big hole in the side, second one just blew up and wouldn't move. This was on a GSX.
