Default Ceramic Coating?

My new rotors are already showing surface rust so I'm looking to get them ceramic coated. Anyone have any suggestions as to who to go to?

Would powder coating withstand the heat?

I would think so as long as the temperatures are under 400*

Are ceramic coating and zinc coating, two different things? I thought you get rotors zinc coated?

If you do get them ceramic, i know its generally good for up to 1200*

Thats the temp that they melt the powder at. It's either 400 or 450. Either way, If the part gets hot enough again to remelt the coating, it could possibly loosen up, run, or whatever else might happen when something is in a liquid state. I think it would have to be around that temp for like more than 15 min or so for that to happen.

The brake rotors might be ok as being coated right up till someone decides to be spirited while driving through the mountains or twisty roads. I think a lot of hard braking might cause the coat to go bad.

if its just surface rust, why worry? itll go away when you step on the brakes. unless its in an area where the pad dosent touch the rotor, i wouldnt worry about it.....if it is, then get them zinc coated.

Hight temp paint withstands 1200 degrees, you can get it anywhere. The pad contact area stays rust free anyway and the rest never touches the pad.

I would get it zinc coated, not ceramic. I have zinc coating on mine, and they've been out in the elements for at least a year and show no signs of rust and I do lots of spirited driving.

ok my uncle owns a powdercoating shop in williamsburg, va called Peninsula Custom Coaters. i work there. ceramic coating holds up to very high temps thats why many people get their headers and such ceramic coated. powdercoating is way way tougher than paint. yea some powders only hold up to 400degrees but they do make high temp powders that withstand way more than 400degrees. see powdercoating and ceramic coating are two different things.
