Curious if anyone in NN area (i'm in wmbg) mods xbox's on the side. I was going to buy one premodded online but if someone local does them that's cool

 

i wasnt. but i was at my friends last night and his has a 200 gig drive and about 50 games loaded on the hd and custom interface and shit. i want one now lol

 

crazychickenhead has his modded you could PM him, but I'm not sure how often he reads this board. He's got all kinds of games, but the only one I like is Finding Nemo.

 

lol finding nemo... might have to pass on that one. You can get them from several places online brand new w/ a 1 yr warranty, 2 controllers, 120gb hd, on/off switch so you can play xbox live, etc for around $350-400. I'll be buying one b4 i go to college, just curious if there was a place local to get them

 

thats a bit much. i'd just get a regular xbox for 150 bux and do the mod yourself or pay someoen you know who does it.

I just read a tutorial on how to do it and its very simple. (then again i am a computer technician so it looks really simple to me cuse all the Xbox is is basically a small machine)

ya, i was just reading about the soderless chip installs too but apparently you need a 1.1 or 1.2 version xbox. how the hell do you find that out before you buy one?

 

It didn't sound too complicated to me, and I'm a complete retard at most computer things. I would have a friend do it, rather than pay all that.

 

yeah that's what I was wondering too, how to know what version an xbox is. I'm not that good with computers, the only reason why I didn't think to do it myself is because I have big fingers and the guys on TechTv said that the soldering was pretty hard b/c of how small it was. Would any HD work? Are the standard hd's on xbox's work like an internal one or do they operate as an external hardrive? A hard drive and a chip is probably only like $150 if I did it myself, I was just afraid of the soldering. Wish i knew someone who did that stuff

 

X-Ecuter 2.3B LITE[+] looks like the best bet for a modchip as far as ease of installation.
