Default Wrx vs SRT ( man..i hate my car sometimes)

http://members.aol.com/minirt/SRT4VsWRX.wmv

this is the 2nd video where the wrx gets owned on the hwy. Though...this is from a roll...where my car is at a BIG disadvantage. Those fucking Srt's are getting faster and faster...

ps. The Wrx in the video starts to reel the srt towards the end. I wonder what that says about the gear ratios on the srt?

Considering the turbo on the SRT is a tad betteri could see the SRT's advantage. But you have one huge thing on your side. That SRT will probably see a lot of maintanance where the WRX is a tried and true design. I just dont see how you can make a 13 sec turbo car for under 20k and still have it be reliable.

yeah...they run 16g turbos. a considerable amount larger than my stocker. i heard somewhere that the srt block is a stroked 420a ( non turbo dsm/old school neon) motor. probably a rumor...but if it is...those internals better be beefed up...cuz 420a motors are known to be pretty weak. i question the relablity of dodge myself...but only time can test that.

No the SRT 4 motors aren't stroked 420A. they're the same motors as the PT Turbos which are basically PT engines (2.4L) beefed up and turbocharged. FYI the 420A isn't the Neon engine, that's the Eclipse engine.

If you're wondering how well the SRT4 will hold up, just look @ the older turbo dodges. W/a lil loving they'll last forever and hold insane amounts of boost (but of course this is yet to be seen)

Here's another video:

yeah i realized that when viper envy told me it was the same engine used in pt's and minivans.

weavil: im not a Dodge Neon specialist or anything but im pretty damn sure that a slightly different variation of the 420a exists in the neon. probably the R/T. ive seen that video uve posted and the wrx in that one was stock and the srt had some sort of boost control.

The 420A is sort of the DOHC neon engine backwards. The heads are pretty much identical (designed by Chrysler), but the Eclipse blocks have changes done by Mitsu. FYI the blocks in the Neons 100% Chrysler designed. Ok enough useless Neon info.

SVT? It ain't no Ford!!!

The SRT 4 also had 4 people in it (if you couldn't see them all in the video). Here's the thread about it SamelCamel is the driver (of SRT4) and IndyGSX is the film man in the WRX.
