worst pick-me-up ever
so i found out last night that the guy i sold my car to back in april has already sold it. this got me very depressed because it was the first big thing i ever bought with my money. it had been with me through most of college. i learned a lot with it, and now i was seeing it get further away. so i wrote my girlfriend this short email about how much my se-r meant to me, and how it sucked to see it being passed around like a slut. i was its second owner, and now it was on number 4.
she writes me back this very sweet email. she says her car in high school cost $500, and it was a big piece of junk and they sold it to some mexican for $1000 right after she left for college. she said, "do you think hes doing anything with my old thing? doubtful." blah blah blah.
so we start talking tonight and i ask her what she drove for 500 bucks. she says some old crappy toyota. i say what model. "oh, a corolla." my brain is starting to turn over now. what year? "87." what did it look like, how many doors? "2." holy shit. was it a coupe or a hatchback? "hatchback." slant or box? "slant." are you sure it was an 87? "no, maybe an 85."
and there im losing it. so i ask her what model and of course she has no clue. 5 speed or auto? 5 speed. was gt-s written on the side? "maybe. the stickers were falling off when we got it." well, did it say sr-5? "no, it didnt say that."
so she was driving an ae86 in high school and had no clue. the best part is, when i asked her where she got it, she says, oh, an auction or junkyard or something. im like, that mexican has probably already sold your car for like $3000 now in the same condition he bought. she thought i was lying to her when i told her her old car had a huge following.
so to make me feel better about parting with my se-r, she tells me how she sold off an ae86, one of my favorite cars, for a grand.
ugh.
i thought it was funny and worth telling
