There are several free full featured dataloggers and I have the cable to reflash, the tuning/flash software is free too!

Gotta love it

Getting to it isn't hard - it's the actual desoldering of the stock EPROM and soldering of a socket that I'm hesitant to try. I can pull the ECU box and pop in the new EPROM to the socket with no problem. If we could meet up some weekend, that'd be cool. Maybe after Thxgvg?

out of curiosity, are you guys tuning on a dyno,or street tuning starting with a stock basemap or an already established map from a car with similar mods?as far as i know, there are no AWD dynos anywhere around here(i think the Evo guys go to NJ?),and the dyno in Salem doesn't actually offer tuning as far as i know.i think that Marshall and his friends have access to or own a dyno, but they're the only ones i know of.
my point is,do ya'll think that you can set up a safe tune that reaches the car's full potential with just street tuning and limited experience?there are a number of very good tuners with dyno facilities within a reasonable drive of our area that are manufacturer trained, and have loads of experience on many different systems.

I never understood why anyone would think dyno tuning is better than street tuning, other than for partial throttle tuning, only because it can speed the process up by using loading, or getting timing picture perfect. In my case, I didn't have a basemap to start with, I made mine from scratch in CROME, I did have the ignition map however..

I use a wideband and knock phones / check plugs for timing. What aspect of street tuning do you think would not be safe? My AFR curve from the dyno was as flat as anything I have seen, 11.5-11.6 all the way across just about. Timing was spot on.

Actually, I have my car tuned so well that I have disabled closed loop, I run in open loop all the time, and I datalog every once in a while to make sure everything is good, always around 15.2:1 anywhere from 19 inHg to 10inHg, then slightly more rich until around 13.1:1 at full throttle.. I get better gas mileage too.
