NOT!! man, today sucked, i got yet ANOTHER yellow slip from "the man" aka ticket. just riding down the road in downtown salem VA, trying to find a bathroom b/c i had to pee when i get pulled over. he gets me for 1: back brake light out (driver side) and 2: illegal exaust.

he only wrote me up for the muffler though. he said that it was b/c it was a stright through muffler w/o any baffles wich makes it illegal. he said to get a silencer put in it be-4 i go to court (if i don't just pay it off) and the judge MIGHT give me a break. any one know how the judge is in salem city? how are they with the whole import muffler deal? real strict or do you think they would let me get off with just the court fee if i get my silencer put in there?

i'm gonna call monday morning to see how much it will be if i just pay it off, or if it's worth going to court and hoping i get out of it. either way, if i go to court it'll be a $50 court fee. i swear, there always looking for a quick buck. every time i get pulled over, i have gotten a ticket. NOT 1 WARNING!!! that's friggin messed up! my freind has gotten pulled over 3 times and guess what? NO TICKETS what's with that? why do i get the "pigs"?

anyway, i'm done venting. for now it is. time to break the news to "the woman" AKA mommy. hope yall have had a better friday than me!

 

i would have to say the salem cops are "pretty righteous dudes" (according to my boss). most of them are really pretty cool. but i see way more on the roads (especially main st.) than in roanoke or vinton.

as long as you stay off the main roads in salem you should be fine with a noisy exhaust.

 

put baffles in the pipe and go to court. I went for not having baffles in my exhaust on my crotch rocket, and the judge flat out dismissed it when i showed him the pics of them installed.

It would have been a 90 dollar fine if i had just sent it in. That's taking into account for "court costs" or the "processing fee".

In Salem? That's unusual. Of course, I'm on a first name basis with most of the officers, and all the judges....

I think if you go to court and "politely" fight it, you'll get it reduced or thrown out all together.

 

if u prepay it you'll still ahve to pay 50 dolla processing fee plus whatever your ticket is for...

didn't get a ticket in salem...got one over in christiansburg for an illegal u-turn...i tried to explain that i wasn't from the area..it was dark...and i was lost and i just didn't see the sign (i really didn't) and the judge was just like...ok...guilty

Your going to have to pay court costs either way you go....My advice is to pay the ticket and don't show for the court date. The judge in either salem or roanoke co. made my friend take is muffler off completely. My dad got out of a ticket by installing a resignator, so it all depends. I've gotten two tickets for the same thing so far and i just prepaid mine because its not worth the hassal.
