Default Well I won't have her toooo much longer.

Well, I've decided that in September I'm putting the car back to N/A, getting a nice paint job, and selling her.

It's just getting to be tooo time consuming for me, too much money every month, and I'm just too worried about popping the engine or something from running too much boost (I feel myself wanting to get greedy!)

I am parting out the SDS and fuel stuffs, then selling the complete turbo kit with exhaust..etc. I am going to be looking for a 99 black mustang cobra. Laugh if you want, but I think they are a rockin' car and the price is decent. Love the sound, power, and rwd.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know what's up. I've had my car 7 years now, put 110,000 miles on it, 3 boosted setups, 3 clutches, 3 tranny's, 2 engines, NO NITROUS, 3 sets of seats, 3 sets of rims, 3 exhaust setups, and I'm gonna give it the 3rd paint job before I sell it so it looks nice. Been a long road, and hundreds of man hours invested. All been a great learning experience.

Nick

Sorry to hear that. I was interested in seeing the potential of your setup (without blowing a motor).
I dont know nick....you got the SDS, I know your tranny had some issues but those can be resolved. Youve put alot into the project and havent cut important corners. At this point, I would keep it and work with it some more. You got it driveable on the SDS and it is fast from what I have seen. You have also upgraded the rest of your car. Still seems like a good car even if it isnt RWD. I would be content with what you have accomplished and get it fine tuned. Probe or Cobra, you will still have the same itch for more and I can guarentee that your probe is faster then a 99 Cobra, you should be able to run with a 03 Cobra on the highway. Granted, a Cobra is a good platform....Independent Suspention, DOHC motor, RWD....but oh well, sounds like you have already made up your mind.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

like eric said, you've put so much money, blood and time into the car (especially in the last couple months) that i would really think you should keep it. yes, it is a pain, but IF you could get it tuned to perfection and running w/o problems (and not fuck around with it afterwards ) it would be much more satisfying than starting a whole new project. compared to your previous boost setups (not that i really knew what you had back then...) i would say that you have a more ideal setup right now. you JUST finished putting the car back together and you wanna get rid of it? don't man... i think what you REALLY need to do is stop changing stuff around, haha. just leave it the way it is, and take care of it. you'll enjoy a hell of a lot more. if you're worried about running too much boost, turn it down. yea you won't be as fast, but at least you'll have a car to drive. now i could be wrong, but i think you pretty much have all you need on the car to keep it running properly. so you wouldn't need to put money into it every month, apart from gas. and since it'd be up and running, it wouldn't be time consuming, except to drive it. of course things go wrong with cars. just ask jeff but things always go wrong. i would really encourage you to just get the car running right and keep it that way. if that means lowering the boost, so be it.

but like eric also mentioned, it does sound like you've already made up your mind. i for one will be very sorry to see it go away, especially having seen you work so hard on it.

one thing you might want to consider: why don't you make your probe your race car and get cobra as a daily (a la marshall)? yes, i know that it would be expensive, but it's just a thought.

you're a bastard for writing this when you're home, where we can't come over and all convince you not to do it, or smack you accross the head or whatever, haha.

come talk to me after over $60k in a car not including the price of purchase

just seems like a waste and that you wouldnt get much out of selling her back in its stock condition (not trying to sound like a dick, but i dont know the value of a stock probe w/ 110k miles on it)......keep it and get a damn beater car/daily driver bro.

Anyone who's had a car for years and has done mods to it comes to this "crossroads"........just seems like a waste to let her go.

1 of my Z buddies had about 45-50k into his pretty ztt (including price of purchase of the z) and decided 3 days ago to sell it but only so he can start a business, well the thing was sold 1.5days later but only for 22.5k.......lots lost.

Good luck in whatever u choose........i know i'll be there 1 day w/ my Z (meaning facing the day when i get tired of her or her upkeep etc)

dammit to hell, keep that car! I don't know you too well or anything about ur car but it seems like you've put alot of money and time into this thing. I haven't even put half of what you have into my civic and i wouldn't let it go for nothing. Better yet i had someone offer me $10,000 for my stupid 92 civic si with a little turbonetics kit on it, and i didn't think twice about saying no. I see from what everybody says that you've had alot of problems with it, but i've had the same amount. All i'm sayin is don't give up on her now. Hell if ur gonna drive it turn the boost down until you get to the track or better yet get a beater like a damn 92 cx hatch or somethin. Just try to reconsider, i'd like to see that car back at bristol one more time this year

Just do like I'm doing. Buy a 4X4 as a daily that way if you blow something up atleast you can pull it away from the track.
