Go ahead and ignore how much drug trafficing takes place there - along with all the other punishable by death crimes... They're virtually nonexistent.

Would you risk selling drugs if you could be killed for it? Nope. So those who choose to take the risk, are also choosing to die if they get caught. It's their choice if they die, not the country's.

Not to mention it is one of the safest countries in the world - and they have a population of over 3 million people.

One may argue that such laws - if you want to stretch it and say they're draconian - make life harder than need be... But certain crimes do the same (make life harder, for the innocent, than need be).

On the other side of the fence - couldn't it be said that certain crimes could never be eliminated unless the government were empowered to take draconian punitive measures?

So do you want to complain about it some more or realize it's not the worst idea in the world? There will always be two sides to the story; don't be quick to assume one's much worse than the other. I'm not saying it's the best way to do things, but it's something to consider.

you really think its a stretch to call those laws draconian? looks like a text book definition of "draconian" to me. their country also has a smaller population than LA - its a completley different scenario from a large country like the US.

I'm not saying it isn't a perfect example of draconian law - seeing as it is defined as "excessively harsh and severe" - but others may argue it's not excessively hard or server, but rather fair.. Since they know the law.

Again it goes either way, I wouldn't really be up for having a law like that, cause I could see speeding being a huge crime there too... And being that speeding is what I do 99% of the time i'm driving, I'd probably be on death row.

Check out how incredibly low their crime rate is. It'll blow your mind. BTW, even convicted drug dealers are sentenced to death. They don't joke around there.
Some article I read in my death penalty GST was about some woman raped in Egypt in a parking lot. Within three hours of reporting it to the police, two men were in custody, both claimed the other one did it and they just saw it from across the lot, so they just killed them both... all within six hours of the rape happening. They get it done. Quick.

I wonder how often rape occurs there now.

so what if one of them really was seeing it from across the parking lot?
