I've been at First Team Auto Mall for a month or two now and the money just isn't there. I hate the way their pay plan is structured, and can barely make ends meet with the money I'm making there--in some cases, can't even make my ends meet. It's a drastic change from the lifestyle I'm used to living. To sum it up, salary there doesn't really even equal minimum wage. You have to sell a respectable number of cars to make more than $1000/month, and I've never worked such long hours for such little money before. I guess that's the end of my rant, I'm not posting this to bash what a lot of people refer to as a horrible employer--I'm here for advice on finding a new and better job. I don't expect to make six figures right off the bat, but I would certainly like to get back in some sort of office environment or something close to it at least, and make reasonable money. I can't live off of $403 every two weeks after taxes, after putting in 120 hours or so. Just can't do it. My car payment is right at $300, and I have other bills just like the majority of you guys. So how are you guys paying the bills? Where can I go?

I'm an experienced debt collector, graphic/web designer, and a fast learner. I also have sales experience, obviously. Do you guys know anything maybe I don't? I've browsed through the paper and VEC's website, but haven't found anything that struck my fancy yet. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I guess car sales wasnt the occupation for you....I am not sure what didnt work out for you but I have been here for almost 2 years and have established a very comfortable living. I am very happy w/ what I have made here.

Well, I have a medical problem going on right now that makes it hard to walk. As you know, that's a big part of the job. When I get that taken care of, the story might be a little different. It's just hard for me to adapt because I was making a lot more money at my last job. The thing that bothers me is that you can either make a lot of money or hardly anything at all. You know? What if you don't sell 8 cars? I don't mind commission jobs but it makes things hard for me. There is potential to make good money there, as I'm sure you're making, but I'd be lying if I said I was cut out to be a car salesman. I don't like pushing people. I'm more of the laid back buy it if you want it and like it kind of guy. I never have liked the cliche car salesman; Not many people do. I don't like jumping people before they even get out of their cars. lol

It's a cool job. Interesting.. but like I said, it's hard to get around right now. Several months ago I was getting up to take a leak in the middle of the night and as I was getting back into my bed, I hit my toe verrrrrrrrry hard on the bedpost, and it broke the inside corner of my toenail. Kind of ignorantly hoped it would work itself out and go away eventually, but it just got worse and worse and I neglected it to the point where it's very serious at this point, and my big toe is probably about an inch or so in diameter bigger than it normally would be, and infected. Gross, right? Nobody really wanted or needed to hear that... lol.... I just didn't want anything to think I had cyphillis or something.

To summarize: Yes, you can make good money there. I took a big pay cut, and don't feel that I'm cut out for selling cars. That's fine, isn't it? Not everyone is cut out for it, and that's what they told me when I was first hired. Some people can do it, and some people can't. I can't.

I wish you the best of luck there though. I'm sure you're doing great and don't need the luck.

jobs.roanoke.com
monster.com

The day after I signed up for monster.com I was getting phone calls.. and some emails but ehh not too fond of people who offer me jobs with big companys yet have a AOL adress or something along those lines..

You can try for my old job lol NTB.. You'd be fine there but again it's all on you for how much money you make.. it's $6 an hour + comm. I was bringing about $750-$800 home every other week but then shit happend and it wasn't that great.. But yea.. you wont have that problem..

Uhmm HSN.. Orvis.. Roanoke Co. is looking for police officers.. United Health Group.. they just hired my boyfriends roomate.. well she has the job if she passes the drug test which we are kinda iffy about. But she was saying they start off at $10 an hour then a raise after 90 days.. it's customer care..you wait for the calls.. the listing is on monster.com

So many options...

I used to work at ACF also, for about a year, but that was back in 01-02. Anyway, I'm always looking for other jobs, and I found this in the paper yesterday. You may have seen it already, either way I think it's worth at least sending in your resume. Good luck!

Collector- Entry-level position, Excellent Salary with monthly bonus
