Default Sister in a car accident...

My sister got hit by a fucking tractor trailer on 220 today... The dipshit came up on her ass too fast and clipped her, wedging her between itself and another tractor trailer. The only thing the police did was issue the driver a "following too closely" ticket, and I'm PISSED! I'm pissed because that kind of shit should never happen, and they should pay more attention driving such a large and heavy vehicle that could easily kill someone (as I've almost had happen to me personally many times), and because I'm stuck at work and they will not let me leave without penalizing me putting my job at risk in a sense.

Did anyone see this happen today? Drive by it? Anything?

I'm talking to my attorney about this shit... Her car is totalled!

That's what I'm saying. My girlfriend says all the time that she hopes things stop being delivered via tractor trailer, essentially, but I always argue with her about that despite all the dangerous driving... I'd hate for all of those people to be without jobs, and I know that 99% of them are just making a living the only way they can. With that said, there are still a lot of dumbass drivers that KNOW they're hard to stop and they KNOW they're 100 times more dangerous when getting up on a cars ass than it would be for another car to get on a cars ass, you know what I mean? You're driving a fully loaded rig... Keep some space and drive safely. If a car cuts off the truck, it's a different situation, but I can't tell you how many times I've been minding my own business going the speed limit and I have a truck get maybe a foot from my rear bumper. What would happen if I had to brake? I get in a hurry sometimes too but I drive a Kawasaki and a GTI which both brake well and are easy to maneuver. A tractor trailer is not nimble, and it takes a long distance to slow down. I used to handle auto/property/asbestos liability for Advance Auto--I was the corporate liability coordinator. I've seen plenty of tractor trailer accidents and lawsuits... and most of them can be prevented.

I'm just glad she's okay! I got in a fight with her a few days ago about something petty and have had a chip on my shoulder since then, being kind of mean to her and ignoring phone calls and emails from her... I feel bad, because I'd really feel like a big jackass if something had happened to her and I was being an asshole the last time we spoke.

not to be a dick...but more details?

cause comments such as you have made will REALLY piss off several people, if they are justified, yes, but generalization is not a good thing on this topic.

what do you mean? she's minding her own business driving home from work and a tractor trailer comes up on her too fast and tries to squeeze between her and a car that was diagonal to her in the other lane. he clips her car and sends her lodged between himself and the tractor trailer in front of her.

Yea there really isn't anything I could see anyone getting pissed about here. I try to steer clear of them on the highway/roads at all times because you never know how long they've been driving or how much sleep they've actually had. Hope everything gets worked out in your sister's favor and i'm pming you back in a minute from the other day!
