Default Roanoke people.. need motor help.. please.

I need a bit of help.

I think I'm fixing to throw a rod; just noticed it this morning. Not driving it until I figure it out. Definitely makes a clank.. and it slowly disappears as the car runs longer(Guessing oil finally gets pumped around.)

Anyone here in the Roanoke area.. specifically near Oak Grove(in between Tanglewood and Salem) that could stop and just listen to the noise? I'm pretty sure it's a rod, but a lot of you know a shit load more about noises from your motor than I do.

Additionally, I guess I have no choice but to rebuild the motor.. and if I'm going to do it - I meidswell go all out. Any recommendations on shops that do good work rebuilding motors? Anyone here do it on the side, and want to make some money?

Let me know; many thanks.

I would love to do this - but I just recently got out of the Navy - packed my bags, and moved here to go to school and work full time. I live in a Town House - hell, I just started getting furniture. I haven't even had a chance to start on any kind of tools - and I definitely don't have a garage. This is why I'm asking.

Thanks for the reply atleast.

It's an 04 Cavalier - 2.2L Ecotec.

It's like a clank.. sounds like my rods are tapping something they're not supposed to.

I guess a "metal knock" would be more appropriate?

Blah.. I guess I suck at describing noises.

Anyways, it's pretty loud(but kind of soft, in a way - sounds more like.. a "metal tic") when you crank the vehicle.. you can probably hear from 20-30 feet away. Every 10 seconds or so, the noise gets softer - and softer. If you drive the vehicle for about five minutes, it's completely gone.

I know you're bored and all - but damn. No thanks grammar queen.. this is not English class, and I don't really give a damn.. you "meidswell" go on and say "Laughing my ass off" instead of LMAO.. afterall, abbreviations are because it's easier to write/type an abbreviation, instead of typing out an entire phrase.. well, "meidswell" is shorter than "might as well"

But, eh, for you.. so you won't get your feelings hurt, I'll type it out for you.

Back to the subject at hand, please..

I'm fixing to go to work around 3:30.

I live right off Grand Ext on Sugar Loaf Mountain Road.

thanks to Greg(you never told me your handle) for the help. Looks like a motor swap it'll be.
