I have a question....how much would the court cost be even if you didn't have to pay the ticket? I mean I get the point of fighting it but it seems to me that the court costs would be more than $35 (I honestly can't remember how much they are from the one time I went)

It's not like it's a major moving violation, $35 doesn't seem like a lot to pay (however I do tend to see your point AND my husbands :lol I agree with no one - fuck you all

well, i think if u just pay it you have to pay the price of the ticket and also a processing fee. that processing fee is about if not the same as court costs...

also, if the judge dismisses the charge there is no court costs if i remember right.

when i got a ticket for my fart can muffler i went to court, told judge i didn't know it was illegal and that i had an apt. to get it changed. once i got a diff muffler i had to meet up with the cop for him to make sure i changed it. then went back to court and the cop told the judge that i did change it and that it complied w/ VA laws. charge was dismissed.

I still want to know the curcumstances surrounding this ticked. Were you just driving along? Or were you getting on the gas more than normal? Where were you?

I'd be willing to bet those play into why you got a ticket.

you have to pay the court costs regardless, unless they changed it.

if you prepay, you pay the ticket cost and processing fee, which ironically is the same cost as the court fees.

if you go to court and fight it and lose you pay the ticket (unless the fee is waved by the judge, which happens alot if you are courteous, such as the time i got pulled over for having a pumpkin on my hood......the judge got a kick out of it, but still charged me with one moving violation and three equipment violations, but waved the fee since it was halloween....)

if you go to court and win, you have to pay the court costs.

so it all boils down to if you want to waste half a day to attempt to fight a ticket that may or may not be dropped. i dont know about you, but i make a hell of a lot more then 100 bucks in half a day, so its not worth my time or effort to do it. maybe to you, but not me.

I've never had to pay court cost after winning a 'case.' Maybe something has changed since I've decided to stay out of trouble, but as far as I'm aware of court cost only applies if you fight it and lose or decide to just pay the ticket up fornt.

Well, it all depends on where it is, too. Roanoke city usually won't let you out of there without paying something. In Salem, if they drop the charges, you go without paying a dime. Never been to court in Floyd or anywhere else, so I don't know about them.

Most of my time in court was Roanoke City, and again, I've never had to pay a dime unless I was found guilty or pleaded guilty.

I've been to court in Roanoke County, and Salem.. and they seem to work the same way in my experience. It's not worth arguing about though as far as I'm concerned.

I told him i removed the resonators but he swore up and down that there was a muffler on it and that i had removed it also.... so thats why he wrote (no muffler ) so if i take it to court and show my slip of approval or that my car does not come with mufflers from the factory, it should get dropped right? I know i modified it and i know what i am responsible for if i got caught. The state troopers wording is what i am saying is gonna get me out of this ticket. I can put the resses back on for next to nothing so if need be.

Well, it was loud enough that he noticed yours standing out. Even though SRT-4's are fairly common, he was able to pick out that yours was different.

I have a good feeling you would be much better off with the upcoming responses/replies if you remove the last sentence about your plate and why you're not running one..
