new member saying hey...
Hey guys whats up, heard about this forum from a few buddies. Seems like a nice forum with lots of awesome info. Anywayz i recently bought a 2000 saab 9-3 with the B205r H.O.T. engine. Unfortunately the engine is siezed and have yet to tear her down to find the cause. If something small like a rod is bent and i cant reuse the block and just replace all internals then that would be great, otherwise a shortblock or used engine is the only other option. Once it gets running though i was planning on modding this thing as much as possible without hurting the reliability. So if there are any saab guru's out there that would like a help me out that would be great. Im trying to find some info on a larger turbo, FMIC's, injectors, etc...
thanks guys,
Brennan

mods and reliability should never be used in the same sentence.
Saab and reliability should really never be used in the same sentence.
9-3's are a decent car dont get me wrong, but having clutches like glass, blocks that dont take any power output, and just being a saab in general knock it down in most peoples eyes.
i would not be having too high hopes of the block being salvageable. the last one i did had a nice little break in all the webbing, which is common for them. and good luck on finding a decent used unit, the ones out there are higher dollar, and will likely do the same thing.

I have a 1984 Saab. If the engines have problems in the newer ones then they have made a complete turn from the transmission problems that plagued the "80's. The engine in mine and ones I used for parts all ran, they were almost bullet proof. The Transmission just would not hold up, but that was before GM got involved and Saab turned the engine sideways to use GM transmissions.
