Are you shaving the head to increase compression or to get the head flat? Take it to a machine shop let them do w3rk then do the rings and headgasket yourself. you can pull pistons and hone everything without pulling the motor.

well, unless your car overheated and warped the head when your head gasket blew, you shouldn't need to shave the head.

Located in Lynchburg and can do the work. I have a machine shop that I use on a consistant basis and they give me good prices.

Sounds like possibly the Honda guy didn't do the head install correctly.Did ya'll follow the ARP torque steps and values? They're different from OEM.Did you measure head/deck warpage while they were apart? Also, why did you put a new head gasket on an 11k mile engine?

I think he torqued them the same as oem using the 3 90 degree steps because he was using a haynes manual for reference, replaced head gasket since took the head off since motor had been sitting since first of 04 and head wasnt checked

That's probably a big part of the problem.I believe on that engine the ARP final torque values are a good bit higher than stock.I also believe they're specific final torque values, not torque plus degree rotation.Possibly worth a shot to correctly torque them and see if the problem goes away, but who knows if the head gasket has been damaged from compression leaking through.
