INNOVATIVE TURBO:TAKES A SHIT LESS THAN A MILE!
Some dude name Daniel from NC has a white one with black hood and also, an evo 8 i believe, said that miata was faster then the evo but I seriously doubt It.
I saw that miata in rocky mount...it did sound a little funny. Landry, did you know that Valley Fuel Injection in Roanoke is an innovative turbo dealer? I noticed some signs claiming such in there shop when I was having my turbo balanced
heres a reply i got in another forum,
Its not a garrett turbo. Its an Innovative turbo. Completely different design of BB.
There is other rebuildable turbos.
Turbonetics has a single BB. Dont know if they still make it. But its rebuildable. Ive rebuilt them.
If your Turbo was an older BB turbo from them, then that would explain it.
The old style carrier that was used was prone to shooting out the turbine side bearing. (just watched it happen on a supra, on the dyno) This was due to a tolerance ring that was put between the carrier and bearing. (Bad engineering) The guy who designed it left he company a loooong time ago. They've had a new engineer for quite a while now. Puts out some good stuff.
If your turbo was older, then they had to rebuild it with old style parts, which Im sure they knew when they sent it out that it had a chance of failing. But they had no choice, or else they would have asked you to upgrade to the new style F2 carrier, but would mean that you would need a new turbine wheel, bearing carrier, and most likely bearing housing. Which in turn would have costed an arm and a leg.
The new F2 style carrier, as they named it, is very nice. Completely new design, runs awesome. None have failed yet. The design is way more full proof, and knocks the old style out of the water.
You wouldnt notice any outside differences of the turbo, the differences are all internal.
If anyone is thinking about buying an old bb turbo from them, stay away. The new ones are the only way to go.
They're standard bearing ones never have any problems, unless some dumbass fucks up on the build.
The guy who is doing all the builds as of now knows his shit, I doubt he screwed up the rebuild. Theres not much to them internally. It was probably just the old design and parts that caused the failure.
I can speak with confidence that they are good guys. Just are now dealing with past design/business mistakes and what not from the old owners, and engineers. Which they are quickly fixing.
I know all of this because I worked there for about a year building new BB turbos, journal bearing turbos, rebuilds, doing lathe work, and ect. And still keep in contact with them, buying parts and what not, and keeping friendly ties.
I have a friend on this site who recently posted a thread about doing rebuilds. I am the guy he was talking about just in case anyone was wondering.
Thanks

This sucks man, I'm keeping my eyes open for something for sale. I'm assuming you are only looking for a 50trim (size wise) turbo right? Also, if I remember right, BB turbo's aren't rebuildable, the cartridge must be replaced.
