Import Quick 8

ALOT , how much money does it take your traditional 5.0 to run that fast , example , my friend jason just past friday , has 2500 dollar fox body , 200 dollar used heads , 200 dollar crane cam , 100 dollars for 410 gears , borrowed some tires from his brother and he ran some 8.10s at 85 mph for about 3 thousand dollars and didnt even break anything ......

I could have bought 3.5 fox body Mustang's (assuming I could get them for 3000 like your friend did) just for the amount of money that I put down on my GTI.. I think it's twice as much fun when you get up next to some unsuspecting victim in a RWD V8 who thinks all foreign cars are just little toys. I've had many older 95 body style 4.6L Mustangs messing with me the other night and they're always very much surprised that that they're looking at my tail lights instead of my head lights in their rear view. It's not a race car by any means, but at the same time you wouldn't really expect it to be quick whatsoever... You wouldn't expect any surprises by it. With a fox body, don't most people expect them to be faster than they typically are? If i hear a nice throaty rumble and the ground is shaking, I expect it to be fast. Mine is extremely quiet.
True, it's cheaper to modify a V8. Yes, I know it's a "ricer" comment, but look at the hp per cylinder or per liter. Mine is currently at close to 100 hp per cylinder, and 200 hp per liter. Most V8's aren't close to that. Yes, I know it's possible, but most times it's just as expensive, if not more so.
V8's have their place. I enjoy a V8 as much as anyone else at the drag strip. But for a street car or daily driver, give me a 4 cylinder any day.

Tho will always have same if not more respect for the big boys. It goes both ways seems a lack of respect for both sides of the coin these days.
Exactly, Chad. I know my car isn't a race car, but I do enjoy having a nice interior with heated leather, and getting pretty good gas mileage. I think it's the best of both worlds too. If I was trying to go as fast as I possibly could with as little money as possible, I'd probably be driving a V8 too. The interior is a huge selling point for me with a car, and there are very few domestic cars that satisfy me on the inside of the car. I don't care how fast it is.. If I can't drive it for extended periods of time, I don't want it. My interior makes me feel like I'm in a $40,000 car instead of one roughly half that (a little more).. It's not a race car.

So, for me, it's the best of all worlds.
