Default Good vet for dogs?

We just got a new dog. Can anyone recommend a good vet for dogs? We have cats, but they go to Vets to Cats, so we've never been to a vet that handles anything but cats.

All suggestions are welcome...

There are vets that ONLY deal with cats? In one aspect, I wonder how they can survive as a business.. but I guess they get a lot of their business because of that.

I always used to use the vet in Vinton right there on Washington..

Yeah. If you have cats, Vets to Cats is the only place I would suggest. They are very good.

Thanks for the suggestions. She has a free appointment for her next shots at Angels of Assissi (where we got her) and she's up to date on everything, so hopefully we won't have to go to the vet too soon...

Nice lookin dog ya got there!

Vet on Williamson near Advance Auto seems to be pretty nice.

Ever watched Dog Whisperer? I'm trying some of that guys techniques on our little Pug/Beagle mix.. He's the nicest little dog, playful, happy, affectionate, etc.. EXCEPT when he sees anyone he doesn't know.

He just snaps and goes wild trying to rip out a jugular or something, very strange...

wow sounds like my dog. i would take her for a walk and she's fine when she see other people, sometime she would cry like she's scare. but man if u ring that doorbell or try to come inside the house, she goes crazy.
i've also watched dog whisperer and went to his website and did a little reading but still don't know wat to do with my dog. if u figure something out let me kow, thanks

So far she doesn't really have any bad habits. She was housebroken before we got her. She was in a "foster home" with other dogs, so she's used to them, and there were cats there so she's used to our cats. She tries to play with them and they won't have anything to do with her, but they are coming around. The first day we didn't see the cats at all because they were all hiding in the basement. Last night all but one of them were up in the same room with the dog.

She is having a little bit of an issue chewing up stuff, but we went and got her a lot of toys she could chew on and she's doing better.

I know this topic is dead but I am bringing it back alive to put my .02 cents in. Don't take it to Vinton Vet. I could say more but I will only highlight a few things. They vaccinated one of our sick boxers when they shouldn't. He was down in weight about 20% and they gave him a booster shot. I talked w/ several vets and they said this should be a policy to not do this. They couldn't answer why they did this. They prescribed him medicine that cost 90.00 and I can get the same med at cvs for 18.63. Then they tried the argue w/ me telling me they pay more than the pharmacies do. They never called w/ the blood work that was supposed to get back in one day. We ended up taking him to the emerg. clinic which they took great care of him. I could go on and on. Everyone has a story good and bad but mine is 95% bad.
Anyone have any other good or bad stories? We need a good vet.
