Mountain Lake Road down in Pearisburg is a really awesome road with goregeous scenery and photo op's.

 

pearisburg?....wheres that?

 

Mountain Lake Road is actually between Newport and Pembroke. It is like 3 or 4 miles into Giles County from Montgomery County. Take 460 West past Pandapolas (sp?) Pond, and on the next mountain you will cross over into Giles. After about 4 miles you will see a road on your right with a Mountain Lake sign, thats the road. There is a back way down if you dont wanna take the same road twice, when you get to the hotel take a left and it comes out on 460 closer to Pembroke.

 

newport....i think that's the road i was on first.....i came back on blacksburg...

 

newport is a town, if you went out the road at newport you woulda ended up in craig county at new castle, thats a good right though, out that way, over potts mountain and back to 460 via stoney creek, pretty long too
