Default cox cable vs satellite

Looking to hear your opinions. We currently have cox extended (not digital) and think we might change. We currently pay 50.00 and would like to get more for the same price or pay a little more if services are a lot better.

I'll be the first to say Fios.

Choosing between Cox and Directv is like picking the lesser of 2 evils.

He probably would have mentioned it if it were an option.

BTW - I like cable cause it isn't affected in storms; don't satellites sometimes have issues in bad weather, or no?

i love Cox(the cable,i mean).i haven't checked the pricing lately(i just look at the total price on our bill for all services)for the cable services, but i thought it used to be $40 for standard and extended, then like $10 more for digital access.
anyway,i'm not a huge TV watcher,so i'm happy with the 80ish channels we get, plus we get all the digital simulcast channels for the $40(i think, maybe it is $50 now),i'm happy.
my mom's getting dish soon,so i'll be able to comment on it.

I'm not a big fan of the dish. I have Cox digital cable...

There have been situations where the cable was fucking up, but that seems to be resolved. I think Gary said it was caused by sunspots or something to that effect if I'm not mistaken. It just seems like the cable skips like a scratched cd sometimes, but it hasn't really happened since the summer that I've noticed. If they can keep that from happening, I don't see myself going to another company.

I have directtv and love it. I don't have problems in storms usually. I do have a tree blocking some of my satellite so that is my own problem. But I have it and my parents have the same system and we love the system. There were occassions on low signal strength but I can't remember the last time and that was years ago.

I just moved from Roanoke City to Salem. I have always had Cox before the move and loved it. They don't serve Salem, so I had to choose between dish, direct tv, or comcast cable. I got dish network.... and its not nearly as good as cox. They do gaurantee that weather will not effect reception, unless its a major storm.... but the overall picture quality isn't as good, and the local channels aren't available in HD yet. But they are saying that it will happen in February. Price-wise, all 3 of the choices were basicly the same for almost all channels with the HD DVR.

FIOS is not and will not be available in Roanoke for quite some time. (I work for VZ)

I personally prefer DirecTV. Living in Franklin County, the cable is horrid. In 4 years, weather has affected my DirecTV twice.
