agreed. however, knowing the owners, it is not a money issue to make it a full quarter. its in the plans from what i hear, but not for a few years.

the track is done, they are now finishing the stands and such, and getting some rubber laid down on the track

Having spoken to the person that runs the track, I will second what Joey said. They fully intend to make the track 1/4 mile in the next few years, but they have to go through zoning, sanctioning, and other legal issues before even beginning clearing the area and actual construction.

I can only immagine the ppl that will crawl out of the wood work to appose the track not to mention the zoning/town council opposition but if anyone gets word of a public hearing on the issue then we should all try to show up in support of the track.

Race tracks are like super walmarts in that no one wants them in their back yard and they will raise three kinds of hell about it and the only way it gets built is if enough ppl show up to support it. Either way count me in cause I REALLY hate dragging my junk all the way to Bristol, Rockingham (although I do like racing at the rock), or Richmond. Bristol isnt too awfully far but the track is slow (air is bad most of the time) Rockingham a quick track but fighting traffic on I40 in Greensboro blows but Richmond is just too damn far on speed trap infested 460. When going those kinds of distances it gets EXPENSIVE for an evening of racing once you add in tow vehicle fuel, entry fees, food, race gas, etc. A person can easily blow ~$400 and thats if nothing breaks on your first pass (BTDT). Hell, Ive towed all the way to Rockingham only for to start pouring down the rain right when I pulled into the pits which put mother freakin nature on my shit list for a while.
