i totally agree diamonds and memphis are a great choice. It will cost you a bit more but the quality is alot better. A 10" memphis is pretty loud inside the car but not to loud outside.

several companies make double DIN head units specifically for GM vehicles.
the Pioneer above doesn't have knobs, but it has a very simple layout and a display that's not too busy.pretty much any double DIN head unit you find won't have all the latest features or high end technology, but i don't get the impression you care about that anyway.any of them are still lightyears ahead of your stock unit in performance regardless.it lists 45 watts max power-probably 20ish RMS per channel.that's WAY more than what you're working with now.retail is $250 on the above pictured model.that head unit and a decent set of front speakers......i think you'll be thrilled for around $300 if you do the install yourself.

knobs are making a comeback.many manufacturers are incorporating knobs into the units for volume controls.the main problem with a single DIN unit is that install kits for your truck look like crap.i'd try to stay with the GM specific HUs.

i'm a die-hard Clarion guy.i've tried several top end units from various manufacturers, and i keep coming back to my 10 year old Clarion.
i'm not saying that there aren't other great sounding source units out there, but i can tell you i haven't been satisfied with Pioneer,Sony or Eclipse(and i know some people are really big on Eclipse, but i wasn't happy).i fully believe that if you want a super high-end system,Best Buy/Circuit City have nothing to offer you, other than maybe Alpine, but i have no experience with their stuff.and i think you're hurting yourself if you buy a really good front stage, sub and amp(s),then use a sub-par head unit.any one of the components will keep the system as a whole from sounding anywhere as good as it could.

I have never owned a Pioneer, but have gone by excellent reviews and opinions I have seen, mostly towards Premier, but I figured there wouldnt be THAT big of a difference.. Apparently not. I have an Alpine at the moment, I like it pretty well. I had a Kenwood previously, it was decent, till it shitted on me after 1.5 years. My brother had an Eclipse and I have always been impressed with their HU's, they had reliability problems for a while, but have since improved apparently. Nakamichi for SQ nuts FTW! For me, I have personally noticed a HUGE difference among different amplifiers compared to headunits I have had.. (MTX vs. old Hifonics and Xtant)

Ah, we have a lot in common! I've used a lot of different types of headunits, and I think my favorite ever was an older Clarion as well. Excellent performance!

Also, two of my favorite medium performance subwoofers were Infinity Kappa Perfect's, and the OLD Pioneer Premier subs... Excellent, in comparison to the newer versions.

I've used Eclipse, Alpine, Pioneer, JVC, Clarion, etc etc etc headunits and various products, and although technology has come a long way.. it just seems like stuff isn't built like it used to be. Yes, you have lots of cool new technology, but those 10 year old headunits are some of the best

i think you're right..the above Pioneer will definitely work.i posted those 2 DIN Clarions just because i was checking out their high-end units for myself(not very impressive IMO),saw their double DIN stuuf, and figured i'd post them for Myclone to check out too.not sure if you can fit them in a GM truck or not,and if they're too deep.
