I got a speeding ticket in my g mas car which is a 2001 Nissan sentra and I need to barrow 2 rims that are aftermarket and bigger then her stock ones so Ican go get it calibrated and it will show that the speedometer is defective her rim is a 15inch so i guess anything bigger will thow it off somewhat i will pay you to use them for how ever long it takes and not a min longer. I guess this is my only option to try and get out of it unless someone else has a better idea please let me no thanks

 

um, you realize that larger rims dont affect your speedo reading that much. its like a 5% change in reading.

 

i dont no i never did it before but i told the cop my speedo was off by a little but and he said even if its off by like 2 or 3 mph its defective and will be dismissed (it was in some small county on the way to dinwidde) so i dont no how there hole little system works

 

just pay the fine...them little towns will stick it to your ass...thats their only source of revunue

 

and by the way my 23s on my ford which came stock with 17s only changed my spedo by 8 mph and thats only when im doing 75...anything before 50 is hardly noticeable...so unless your planning on stuffing some 23s on the sentra...i dont think it will work...

 

The rim diameter does not affect the speedo reading. The tire size is what affects this so if you have tires sized 195/50/15 and switch to tires sized 195/65/15, your speedo reading will be affected. This is just an example so I know that it wont be much, if it is even noticeable at all. I just want to make the point that if your truck comes with 17 inch wheels which will have a big sidewall, you can keep the speedo reading the same as the 17's when using 23 inch wheels by having low profile tires. The thinner sidewall compensates for the excess wheel size. Some online wheel/tire distributors have a program on their website that will recommend tire sizes so you stay within this margin.
