I don't go to VMP to watch auto-x.

South Boston is 20 minutes from VIR. Not 40 miles.

I didn't go to watch, I went to go drive in them. I would have gone down to watch some of the NHRA racing but any supposed motorsports organization that kicks out a bunch of automotive enthusiasts needs to get it's priorities straight and realize where some of it's fan base comes from.

It wasn't really their fault. I was just one of those things. I do wish we could still autocross there, but I understand the circumstances. VMP people would rather have us both there, but their business is drag racing. Big autocross events don't fill up their grandstands, unfortuantely, but big drag races do.

Insurance companys have to do what lawyers tell them will make stand up in court when someone gets hurt (and they do get hurt), and NHRA has to do what the lawyers tell the insurance comanies tell them will stand up. They say NHRA has to control things at certain levels, so they autocrosses get booted. I can't blame anyone, and VMSC, and NASA have to find other places to autocross during the drag race season.

Agreed 100%. VMP's just doing what's best for their business (i.e. whatever NHRA wants them to do.)

Luckily, starting this Sunday, we've found a better/closer site (for us Richmonders at least)

I love watching road racing/auto-xing, but when I go to VMP I go to watch drag racing and that's probably why auto-xing didn't do too good.

Ugh deja-vu BAD!

AutoX @ VMP did great from ~1998 through 2005. It was the "home site" for two different groups on a monthly basis. But it only made VMP <$1000 a day because they were not spectator events.

That's the price of, what, like 5 NHRA weekend tickets?
