Team Challenge Results

The results from the team challenge are completed (thanks Dave) and are posted on the temporary site under Beachcombers Corvette Club along with some pics. We hope to have the the pictures, results, and videos posted at Team Bodega this week. I'll let you know when we are ready.

I would also like some feedback from this board on the team challenge: good, bad, otherwise. We are planning another "informal challenge" for the next tidewater event.

UPDATE: Team Bodega's web site now has full event coverage posted.

I think thinga went great!!!!! You have to chose your teams carefully. This will not be something that everyone will do, because like we talked about their will be stronger teams. There sould be few rules on how the teams are put together IMO. I feel this way because just like in pro sports teams pick the best individuals. Our "Team Challenge", should be no exception. You pick the better drivers, and better cars, and BOOM theres your team. Lets be real if a guy comes out and has a bone stock CRX with a strut tower brace and now is in CSP, should he really be on a team, or dose the team he is on really want to be competative (notice I didnt say win). We use the PAX times to determine an overall winner, I think that they should be the main rule in the team challenge. Put good drive with well prepared cars for their respected class and you will have a competitive team. Four guys in with well prepared Qstock cars have just as good of a chance agenst four guys with CP cars.

Just my .02$ I had a blast, and it will be better next month when I get my new tires!!!!!!!

I can tell you what happened to me. I swept the course for all the people to follow. I could tell that the end of the second heat was better then the first half and the first heat sucked for anyone on race rubber. Don't talk too much you got a Sentra on your team.

That is the easy way to the results.

Yep, but then I would not have been able to go out with Tracy. I am not complaining. I ran in the first heat for the fun of running NOT to be super competitive. I wanted to spend some time with Tracy MORE then I wanted to lay down a fast time.

that's cool. whatever makes you happy. i'm lucky, i get to do both at the same time.

I think the whole team challenge went very well. Although like others have mentioned, teams need to be chosen wisely if the team challenge is to become more popular. As much as I would want to win and beat the hell out of any team (which would not be that hard to do) that would not be that fun.

I mean, look at the space between the 1st place team (Team Ringer at 131.518) and the 2nd place team (Team BMW at 136.189). That is a pretty large margin while the rest of the field was fairly close. Don't get me wrong, I don't feel discouraged by getting beat like that, it just makes me want to try harder to win, but there does need to be somethingin place to keep the teams from getting out of countrol.

However, with the people who are involved with the team challenge, I think we can make it work so that it is fun and competitve for all.

Oh and Trip, you better get your act together or you will be ridding the pine :D !!!!!!!!!!

And Beno, I have the videos encoded. But I am having problems getting them to you (large files). I am still working on it. Push come to shove, I will give you a CD-ROM at the next event.

unfair advantage or smart racing?

SCCA rules state a two driver car must be at least 5 cars apart in the smae heat. If a car gets a rerun at the end of a heat, etc. the driver must wait 5 minutes for tires to cool. BCC uses SCCA rules. If the MR2 wants to have two drivers and be numbers 68 and 73 (5 cars apart), they can. Yes the tires are warmer for the second driver but based on the results I was seeing the tire warmer was getting better times than 90% of the racers.

If you think this is an unfair advantage. Call the SEB or get your own tire warmer. In the case of the MR2 refer to the following link. I think these results speak for themselves and tires don't have the advantage being complained about in here.

I think it is more of an honor to have national champions come out and show us how a car should be driven and give us advice on how to improve our performance, than to snipe them about their results. Its not the first case or the 50th, Miatas, mustangs, corvettes, Hondas, Cobras, and BMWs have been doing this for years and now its an issue?

Have fun driving and think about improving yourself and the times will fall and every race will be enjoyable.
