road track people
how practical is it to take your daily driver to track days? what kind of preparations do you need to make? is the strain on the car too burdensome? What kind of problems have you run into? etc. etc.

I'm about to walk out the door here at work, I'll give my $.02 when I get home later tonight.
My overall point of view: Tracking your daily driver, when its a Mazdaspeed Miata, is perfectly normal and should be done. Preperations include bleeding brakes and putting gas in it. It is NOT hard on a car unless you are an awful driver. The only "problems" that you'll run into is that you'll go through brake pads faster then 100% street driving, and your tires will have additional wear. Both of which will be the first two items that are upgraded once you get on track for the first time and realize you are hooked.
There is nothing stopping you, sign up today and track that mofo.

Re: road track people
What Flo said. Get some decent summer performance tires, Dot4 brake fluid and decent brake pads and call it a day. It'll be the most fun you can have in your car. I'd run that combination until you get very familiar with that car on a track and get some miles under your belt. Based upon your experience, you could anywhere from there and build something down the road. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have started out with basically a street legal race car. I'd rec' what you are doing.....start out with a relatively slower car and learn to be smooth around the course. The Miata is a "momentum" car which means to be fast you have to be smooth and keep the speed or momentum up. Much better way to learn than the way I approached the sport. I never do anything the normal way anyways
