Slim.. I would recomend just getting out and doing some events before you start event thinking about car set up. Civics are good handeling cars in general, its the diver thats makes them fast.

what spring rates do you recommend getting for a civic that's on tokico illumina shocks? i have the GCs already, but i'd like to get the custom spring rates
i'm not sure what rates tokico can handle. if they can't handle a high spring rate, then the spring will actually be stronger than the shock. Koni's can handle about 500lbs if i remember what they said correctly. but then you can get them revalved to handle almost as much as you want

thanx for the props. I'm running Eibach Sportlines (more like Softlines) on Koni Yellows right now. also have a ST rear sway bar. my first two runs were horrible. i tried using the settings andy (maxQ) used for the front struts and it didn't quite suit my style as i spun out on both runs. that goes to show you that once setup for one driver doesn't mean it's the best for the next driver.

hehe. i don't know if you heard about the story of me and Kienen. one day before I autoxed and knew who he was, I was at a stoplight and he was behind me in the stock WRX. so we leave the stoplight kind of spirtedly (is that a word?) and we go right on this on ramp. so i haul ass around it and actually start to pull away from him. keep in mind, this was w/ the chrome wheels as well, heh. Then i heard from some friend that knew him that he ordered Teins the next day. haha, funny shit.

well, i got them in on Tuesday, and put them on yesterday (friday). all i can say is wow. i haven't been able to put them to any good tests yet, but out of the 2 corners i've taken quickly, i'm definitely getting the rotation. and holy shit is it stiff. i'm not gonna have any teeth in a year. can't wait to race tomorrow :-D

Stiff springs are fun, aren't they? You know it's bad when you give warnings to every new passenger who gets in the car... "If you have back problems... they're going to be worse in about a minute" 400/500 on the friend's GS-R, car was quite nice on those despite the hard GS-R leather seats making the right a bit uncomfortable. After I put the suspension on, I drove it to class one night downtown, called him and said "you may want to put a pillow on the driver's seat... permanently."

is there a big difference between 350/450 and 400/500...because i have 350/450 on my civic and the ride doesn't seem stiff at all...but i also have factory bushings.

Brent where were you today?????

You cant realy judge spring rates from one chassis to another. The role rates of the cars will be different. Plus Dave realized that he is close to if not riding on bumpstops.

Here is how to figure suspension travel:
1. Jack up the car and place it on a jackstand.
2. Remove the wheel.
3. Place a floor jack under the lower suspension arm.
4. Jack up the car untill it raises up off the jackstand.
5. Look now at the gap between the shock body and bumpstop. This is close to your total suspension travel.

If there is no gap YOU ARE TO LOW.....

Also always remember if you raise or lower you car the alignment setting change.

I talked to quite a few guys today, including Ed, and I got an idea of how high i'm going to raise the car. going to have to take measurements and stuff at different hieghts and blah blah blah.

we'll see how the ride gets once it's a little higher as well.
